Complaint: I purchased a 4BT long block from AKMI Corporation in 2013. I had this engine in my stock, still in the original crate until a customer was interested in purchasing it in January of 2015. I called AKMI Corporation to verify the terms of the warranty prior to selling it to my customer. I was advised by the salesman at AKMI Corp. that the warranty was from the date of installation, not from the date of purchase. My customer purchased the engine from me, with the knowledge that he had a full warranty on his engine. My customer came back to me after he had paid a repair shop to install it in his piece of equipment and advised that the engine was faulty and had been machined wrong at the factory. I called the same salesman back at AKMI Corp. and advised him of the situation as well as provided photos. It took a week before I even heard back from anyone, all the while my customer was shutdown due to the faulty engine in his machine. When the salesman did call back from AKMI Corp., he then went back on his word about the warranty coverage stating that he would only issue a store credit. This is not at all what their warranty states. I am out the cost of the engine, my customer is out the labor charge the shop charged to troubleshoot the faulty engine plus the installation of it. I also tried offering to take the block to a Cummins repair facility here locally for their examination and AKMI would not accept that. After going back and forth regarding an engine that was absolutely machined wrong AT the factory, AKMI Corp has only offered a fraction of what was paid out for the engine and labor. This is NOT what their warranty states. I made things right with my customer, by rebuilding his old engine at my own expense because I stand by my word to my customers. Too bad AKMI Corp. doesn’t do the same. I am looking to file a class action suit against them and would like to hear from others that may have had some of the same issues with this company.
