I bought a House back in 2012, I trusted my Real Estate Agent, he advised me to go through Castle and Cook, They told me I was qualified right away. I went to meet Branch Manager to finalise everything, He was forcing me to takee 30 years Loan, I didnt understand why, as I could easily managed paying the loan in 15 years. I finalise everything and I left with 30 years Loan, 2 weeks gone, He send me an email comparing both 30 years and 15 years and the interest rate was 3.125 %. I asked him again if I can go with 15 years, and he started to say it’s better to go with 30 years loan as the interested rates are really low. Everything was finalised and I told him to go with 15 years loan he asked me to pay additional $1500 (Roughly) to close the loan, and he told me he will pull out from the process. Unfortunately I paid that money and also 3.25 % interest rate. I checked with other mortgage company and the rate was around 2.75 % and not paying anything from your pocket. Everything was fine until I receive a letter that this is Castle and Cook Mortgage LLC Practices to sell the loan at higher interest rate. I also receieve $80 cheque from CFPB. I called the Tempe office and the Loan Officer already left the company and the office was closed. I was panic and I ended up calling the Head office in UT. I did got a call from Adam after calling them several times and he told me he will look into my loan carefully and someone from AZ office will get in touch with me. Someone did but the interest rates have gone up now and they told me they cant do anything about this. I am not sure what I could have got as interest rate but it something could have done and I did receive something back from CFPB.
