Complaint: On December 12, 2012, I purchased a burgundy convertible 1998 Jaguar XK8 from Houston Direct Auto. At the time Amin had a program where he was working in conjunction with a tax consultant. The auto deal was that if you filed your tax return with this company, the consultant would give refund to Amin. I was told that by tax consultant that I would receive $2,000 back as my refund. Mr. Husain said that he wanted $4,000 down. I came up with $2000 and the remainder was to come from IRS tax refund. Well, I didn’t get anything back because the consultant disappeared. In the meanwhile, before I bought car I took it on a test drive, and noticed that the wheels were shaking. He said that he would check it out, but it was nothing major. In fact he told me that the wheels on the car were very expensive, and was probably worth more than the car. He asked his mechanic to check it out, and then he told me that it just needed an alignment but that they wouldnu2019t do it. He went on to tell me that it wouldnu2019t cost much to get that repaired. A few weeks after the purchase I started having problems with the wheels, and it just continued. I told a representative from the company about the issue and that I thought that they werenu2019t truthful to me about the matter, and this is when he said that he work something out with me as far as reducing the cost of the deferred payment. After a few months, I was riding over the ship channel and was almost in a deadly accident. I begin to smell something and my engine automatically cut off. I coasted to the side and noticed that the tire had crumbled. I took pictures in which I will show you as an exhibit. I later took to a mechanic shop, and the mechanic put the car on a hydraulic lift. He told me that the car had major suspension problems and that he could fix it, but that it would cost me approximately $2000.00 for parts and alignment. He also told me that I would need new tires. He said there were all kind of parts broken under the car and that he could try to get it close to normal. I bought four new tires for 800.00 and this is when he said the alloys that are that care are so dangerous. He said that dealers donu2019t even sell that type of rim anymore because the screw on the middle would just unscrew while people were driving. I told him that I was told that the rims were very expensive, and he laughed and said, u201cYes, thatu2019s before so many people were injured in car accidents.u201d He said, u201cPeople donu2019t even want to work on cars with those type of rims because they donu2019t want to held liable.u201dWell, now I feel even more screwed. All along I continued to pay my car note, while steadily pleading with them about the issue, but no response. Finally in May of 2015, I contacted Amin again via letter about absorbing the $2000 on the car because of the unresolved issue that was supposed to be taken care of before purchase. In my records I was done paying for vehicle with the exception of the deferred payment. He never sent title nor responded. Again, I have letters, documents, and pictures as evidence to prove my claim. To date I have paid over 13, 944.80 (including 2000 dwnpmnt) to Houston Direct Auto for a car that was to originally sell for 8,995.00. This is not to mention all the repairs and upkeep that I have done. The blue book value of the car is 5,858.00. On June 3rd., I contacted Mr. Amin again and asked him to waive the fee again and to provide me with my title. He told me that he was willing to take 600.00 off of the 2000.00, but then he proceeded to add 1,100 in late fees in which I was never notified. Thereby asking me to pay 2,500.00. I asked if he could put that in writing and he gave me an overall figure, nothing detailed. This was on June 10, 2016. I disagreed with the numbers, and decided to try to mediate the matter. I contacted the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center and they notified me immediately of meeting. I asked did they contact Houston Direct Auto and they said yes they would contact them. I followed up by contacting them myself, so they were fully aware. I also had been talking to Brenda in his office. But, on June 24th as I was preparing to go on a business trip, and checking my Mother into a Rehabilitation Home, I rushed home to get medicines and switched vehicles. I locked the gate and left, and upon my return u2026.I saw that my car was gone. I actually didnu2019t believe that it was Houston Auto because I was the one who initiated the conversation. I later found out that Houston Auto repossessed the car. I called to file a police report and called my insurance company. I later received a letter with a different amount stating that I would now have to pay storage fees because he was storing the vehicle at his place plus additional repossession fees. He gave me 10 days to respond, and said that he would sell the vehicle. I went to mediation but Amin did not show.

Not really. In spite of the review published here, there has been no response from Houston Direct Auto Houston Texas. Lack of accountability is a major factor in determining trust.
