I spent 19 months fighting a losing battle with these people. From day one there we had nothing but problems with the managers (Calvin and Vicky Hurrell), the lawn guy, and other tenants. When we first moved in I should have realized it was a mistake but we had no real other options. First of all, my trailer was advertised on the website at $595 a month, which was within my budget at the time easily. However when I went to sign the lease they informed me it was $625 which I thought was fine given the pet rent of $20 a month for my dog and cat which I foolishly assumed was the $595 plus $20 pet rent it added up. That wasn’t the case, my trailer was actually $625 plus $20 making it $645.. again I could afford it however that was never specified despite my question about it. And my security deposit was $937.00. I’ve never seen a security deposit that high before. Flash forward a month, it’s the 2nd of the month and Stacy texted me that our name was on the list for eviction, we hadn’t even been there a full 30 days yet, how could that be? It doesn’t make sense.. We talked and I thought all was okay. Until the first of many eviction notices came for roughly $1400 because she allowed me to pay off the security deposit over time. My first several payments were over $800 plus $617 from DHS which should have caught us up pretty quickly if you do the math, but, that never happened. We just kept falling further and further behind. We didn’t pay just the $625 until June of 2017 and we lived there since January 5, 2017.. July came the second eviction notice for $145 according to the manager I hadn’t paid my pet rent since I moved in, which looking at receipts it shows there was more than enough to cover pet rent each month. The next month our rent money was stolen and we fell behind because I had lost my job the same month we moved in. Though with my mother in law living there she helped cover some of what I had lost when I lost my job. I worked out an agreement with Stacy that we would pay an extra $100 a month for 5 months to make up for the month our money was stolen. However even paying the extra we weren’t getting caught up at all, the amount just kept getting higher. By October we were in court again over yet another eviction for $1300. DHS paid $870 this time on top of our $750 that’s $1550 which is $250 more than what the court ordered us to pay. Should be completely caught up or just about right? Nope. Come December we were given another eviction notice and 2 lease violations. Blankets in the windows and a trashy porch and even more money $816 this time. Nothing makes sense and I’m wondering what’s going on to cause this much hassle when we had been paying extra.. This continued for another 11 months costing more and more each time. It got to the point we were forced to go without running water for a total of 8 months just to keep our home. Then she added the water bill to the rent and used that to once again take us to court for eviction. Only this time DHS decides to change their system for SER application and I’m forced to reapply 3 times before it was finally processed through, by which time it was too late, the writ had been filed and I had 24 hours to leave or they were going to remove us from the property forcefully if necessary. These people are awful, they knew we were a poor struggling family surviving on my daughter’s social security every month and they stole everything from us. They took our home, our safety. And they are doing this to so many more.
