MDA Tax Services is a Rip-off. Be warned. The salesmen for MDA tax services will make it sound like when they give you a price for their services, the price they give you, will be the cost for them to represent you for the problem you have. What they DONu2019T tell you is that fee that they charge is only a down payment on their services. They will charge you $250.00 per hour for everything they do for you and when your u201cfeeu201d for services money that you paid them is exhausted, they will break the news to you that they are actually charging you by the hour and you have to pay more money than originally agreed in order for them to finish representing you. By then you are stuck and have to agree. They know that when they tell you a price for your services, that most of the time people will incorrectly conclude that this is the full price for their services. They will very often drop the price of their services just to get you hooked and signed up, knowing that they have lowered their fee far below what the actual amount they will eventually charge you. Their clients are often strapped for cash and need to start paying the IRS payments but canu2019t because they have to pay MDA more money than they ever thought they would have to pay. You are much better off going to a tax resolution firm that will give you a flat fee for services rather than one which will have an open invitation to bill you. In some cases, you could wind up paying them for many months and even years to represent you instead of the 3 months they initially led you to believe that would be all that is necessary to pay their u201cfeeu201d. They represent that one reason to hire them is because they do not have to use the same automated system that you have to use and they do not have to hold for hours on the phone. In fact, they do have to use the same automated system and you get stuck paying them $250.00 per hour to hold. They can be holding for several different clients at the same time and charging multiple clients at the same time $250 per hour. They do not tell you that you could just go to the IRS website and use the Offer in Compromise calculator that the IRS provides and find out exactly what the IRS will offer to settle your case. This is the same calculator that people in their office use to figure out how much you can settle your case for. The website then tells you the step by step process to apply for that settlement and the forms to fill out. You can do it yourself for free. The web address to that calculator is: treasury.gov/oic_pre_qualifier/ Note: The calculator will ask you if you have filed all your tax returns and paid all estimated taxes due. Even if you havenu2019t done that, answer the questions yes, or the calculator will tell you that you do not qualify for an offer in compromise, when in fact, all you have to do is file your taxes and make the estimated payment and then you would be qualified. Misty Nelson is the head of the Tennessee office and the only enrolled agent in that office. She is a liar and has lied to me personally on multiple occasions. She is the one who will break the news to you that you have to pay more money than you agreed to pay in the beginning. Surprise! Surprise! You can check at the BBB and find out that they have been in business only 1 u00bd years. Their salesmen have been taught to tell you they have been in business 21 years. They will not tell you that you qualify for an offer in compromise. They will use another name like: u201cYou will qualify for an amnesty based programu201d. The fresh start program the IRS offers might be referred to as the u201cNew Beginning Programu201d. They change the names of the IRS programs so that you will not Google and find out that you could have done the same program directly with the IRS. They want you to think that they have found a program that you could not find on your own to make you think they know more than you do or anybody else. Some of their salesmen, and even the head of their company, will use false names because they do not want you to be able to be able to link what was said to any real person. They do not want to be sued or held liable criminally for the lies they tell. They are conducting their business illegally. They make no attempt to scrub the numbers they call from the National Do Not Call list. This is a crime they commit daily. Oh, by the way, they often brag about being Christians and tell you that they are highly ethical and moral. Do you want to do business with a company that starts out by being so dishonest with their customers and a company that will not tell you the true total cost of their services?
